Sandwich panels are being extensively and increasingly used in single storey and multi-storey building construction because they are light in weight, energy effi- cient, aesthetically attractive and can be easily handled and erected. An author- itative book which considers all aspects of their design may, therefore, be considered to be overdue. This book has had a long period of gestation. The authors have all been closely involved in the evolution of the definitive documents for the design and application of sandwich panels within Europe and it was in the context of this committee work that the need for a comprehensive book, covering all of the important con- siderations which arise in the design, manufacture and use of sandwich panels, was first seen.
