Jeff Okun has contributed visual effects and 2nd unit direction to a wide range of films such as The Day The Earth Stood Still, Blood Diamond, Stargate, Deep Blue Sea, The Last Starfighter, Lolita, Cutthroat Island, Sphere and Wes Craven's Shocker.
His credits also include ground breaking music videos from such varied artists as Sting, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janet Jackson, Wayne Newton, Bryan Adams, Amy Grant, Dolly Parton, Prince, Michael Jackson, the Neville Brothers and Rod Stewart.
Jeff has also created visual effects tracking and bidding software that is in wide use within the industry. He is also responsible for the revolutionary visual effects technique dubbed the "PeriWinkle Effect" and the "Pencil Effect", which has been used in many projects to help achieve a more realistic sense of danger and more accurate budgets.
Jeff began his career in the 1970's as a photographer chronicling the rock music scene, first shooting Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, then moving on to Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Albert King, the Kinks, Johnny Winter, Spirit, Captain Beefheart, Mountain, Arlo Gutherie, Buddy Miles Express and many more.
Jeff is also the Chair of the Visual Effects Society has served as chair of the VES Awards Committee.
