Přijetí mnichovské dohody Československem 30. září 1938 je neodmyslitelně spjato s otázkou, zda se tehdy mělo bojovat nebo ne. Tuto otázku si kladly minulé generace, klademe si ji my a velmi pravděpodobně si ji budou klást i generace budoucí. Z toho by se dalo usuzovat, že československá vojenská problematika v roce 1938 již musela být detailně probrána a zhodnocena a těžko přijít s něčím novým. Pravdou je však spíše opak. Publikovány jsou obvykle stále stejné všeobecné údaje, bez širších souvislostí, nevycházející ze systematického historického výzkumu, který se ostatně začal provádět až v posledních letech.
