I agree with some others who've pointed out that Canada had been largly ignored despite being the country with the most area unaffected by the Wave on the North American continent. You'd think that would have made them a pretty major player in this half of the world. Also, another reviewer said something when reviewing Without Warning. Where's Puerto Rico in all of this? They most likely had more Americans left then the remains of Washington state, yet they're mentioned once in passing in the second book. For that matter what about Guam, American Samoa, etc? They're talking about the area around Kansas City, and incorporating it into a new state called Heartland, and I love that idea, but all of our pre-Wave territories were outside of the Wave. Why wouldn't those have been incorporated into states by this time?
Aside from those items, this truly is one of the most original stories, with some of the most qwirky, flawed, and downright human characters, that I have ever read.
