World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand: My Career Vol 1&2
English | WMV3 640x480 | MP3 96 Kbps | 2.08 GB
Genre: eLearning
These two DVDs (sold separately) cover the entirety of Viswanathan Anand's career, from his early days as a junior to his World Championship triumphs. Anand himself guides the viewer through his greatest games (as well as a few disappointments). The first DVD covers his career through 1999, while the second covers 2000-2007.
The video presentation is beautiful, and Anand is a great presenter. My only minor complaint is that the DVD can only be watched on a PC with ChessBase software (included), but this is a small price to pay for such a high quality product.

Guide Review - Viswanathan Anand: My Career (Volumes 1 + 2)In the last 20 years, perhaps only the accomplishments of Garry Kasparov have surpassed those of current World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand. In his long and successful career, Anand has played numerous brilliant games, won dozens of tournaments, and played several World Championship matches and tournaments.
All this provides more than enough material for a DVD on Anand's chess career, which is probably why Viswanathan Anand: My Career was released as two separate volumes by ChessBase. Some might object to paying twice as much for the collection, but the material is well worth the expense. The first DVD covers Anand's career through 1999, while the second covers 2000 to 2007.
The DVDs must be watched on a PC, but this is a very minor inconvenience. Installation of the included "ChessBase Reader" software is simple, after which you can browse the DVDs at your leisure. The menus are easy to navigate, with various video clips covering different years, tournaments, matches, or in some cases single games. The interface is nothing short of fantastic; a video of Anand speaking to the viewer is place to the right of the board, along with the notation of the game he is presenting. As Anand plays through the game, he moves the pieces and adds visual aids to complement his analysis.
But these DVDs are far more than simply videos of Anand analyzing his greatest games. Anand offers insight into his preparation, the progression of his career, and the chess community. Interesting and sometimes funny anecdotes add a great personal touch to Anand's story.
My Career contains over 8 hours of footage, and if anything, I was left wanting more. These two DVDs are essential for any Anand fan, and are also highly recommended for anyone who would enjoy learning from one of the greatest players of our era.
