Bubblegum is a sub-genre of Pop Music that existed before the Monkees but they definitely set the set the gold standard in it. You either love bubblegum music or you hate it and, depending on how you feel about it, you have good reasons to feel the way that you do. There's no denying the popularity of bubblegum though, particularly its Golden Age on AM radio during 1966-1974 which is the era this triple CD set chronicles. If you grew up during this period, many of the songs are unforgettable, maybe as guilty pleasures. As a release, Bubblegum Classics is a well-chosen, nicely remastered anthology and the liner notes are brief but extremely well-researched.
