I am loving the Tiger series and I rarely give out reviews, but after reading some recent reviews, I just had to say something. Apparently those who are English majors (or otherwise) seem to think they own the English language and know exactly what good writing style is. These people need to get over themselves!!! I find it ironic that people can criticize when they themselves have never tried putting out a book! Not everyone is Victor Hugo, Charles Dickens, or Jane Austen. I've read many of John Grisham's books but he is no Charles Dickens...BUT I really like his stories. There are plenty of people so-called English majors who can write, but very few can tell a good story! As a professor in a university, I have seen numerous examples of terrible writing. Not only are Colleen Houck's books well-written, they are clear, clean, fast-moving, and imaginative I love her writing style! Plus, she weaves a great story that incorporates so many genres and educational nuggets which I've rarely seen in any book. No "precocious 8-year old" could ever put together such a wonderful tale with rich characters. I can easily see her books becoming movies--a medium that cares more about storytelling and less about literary style. So, Ms. Houck, please ignore these idiotic naysayers. You are doing a splendid job. If anyone has doubts, they should continue reading her 2nd book Tiger's Quest which is an incredible read.
