I've been a fan of this series since the first book, "A Vicky Hill Exclusive!" These charming British mysteries, set in the town of Gipping-on-Plym, are clever in their twisty plots and witty in their subtle -- and sometimes slapstick -- humor. The copy of THEIVES that I pre-ordered arrived yesterday and I dropped what I was doing (who really needs clean laundry?) and I read it until late last night. There's a problem with trying to write a synopsis of this story and that is because it's like trying to describe a puzzle without giving away the parts that would spoil the surprises. Suffice to say, this new "Vicky" was my cure for the winter "grumps." The wild situations and bizarre secondary characters that author Hannah Dennison creates for her intrepid reporter, who will do most anything to get out of writing obituaries, settled my stomach and restored my good disposition. Now, unfortunately, I'll have to wait another year for the next one. Please write faster, Ms. Dennison.
