Most of the historical romances I read are Regency or Victorian, but the blurb on this book intrigued me. I was not disappointed! Elizabeth Lane's use of the 1920s makes a refreshing change from the usual, and I love the details she includes to remind us of that time. Best of all, the hero/heroine were both likable, sympathetic characters despite the traumas both of them have suffered in their pasts. Ethan is an undercover US Marshall trying to break up a bootlegging ring, which he fears Ruby is a part of. She in turn wants only to rebuild her life after escaping an abusive marriage and is not happy to find herself not only a suspect, but the target of amorous intentions from an oily mayor, his spineless son, and the truly yum-tastic Ethan.
I was cheering for Ruby and Ethan all the way through this book. Two thumbs up!
