I thought the idea of a secret society originating in India was original, although the numbers they could call upon outside the subcontinent seemed rather improbable. ALL romances are alike under the skin if you reduce them to their bare essentials, so I disagree with the reviewer who considered this another in a stock formula. SL's heroes are almost all a bit possessive (okay, possessive) and rather arrogant. They are also mostly aristocrats and I venture a guess that most aristocratic males of the 19th century who were good looking and intelligent were probably both arrogant and possessive to some degree. I like how so many of her characters from previous books are reappearing in this quartet.
