The smex was written well and it was kinky, laced with a tad of dub-con but even that could have been better with more setup and I cared about the H/h. Frankly, the protagonists were both so annoying (I really think that the length of the story - or lack thereof - is really the culprit) that the impact of the smut is completely diminished by the lack of a cohesive story.
I only hope that the author revisits this idea and gives it a better treatment because this universe is could be really interesting.
