I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend who shares similar interests in fiction. I thought the book was entertaining and quite enjoyable. Today, I had a little extra time and decided to read some of the reviews about the book. I firmly believe people need to lighten up about the plot, its character development, and how Hoffman mixes real places with made up ones. Let me be perfectly blunt its FANTASY! If your such a literary critic stick to WAR and PEACE otherwise enjoy the book and try not to be overly concerned about every little detail. It reminds me of a movie critic who complains about the plot and acting in a Resident Evil movie just enjoy it for what it is.
