I read the other reviews before purchasing and as I was committed to the series I read this story anyway.
I really wanted to learn about Jon's story-in all the other books he was honorable, noble selfless-there for his family in any and everyway. We were never really introduced to the tormented Earl of this story.
I think Amanda is the perfect heroine-her patience certainly paid off, however if Denise wanted a darker story here I think she missed her depth in Jon's character.
I enjoyed the interaction with all the known characters from past books (family) and despite character flaws with both Amanda and Jon their story is still one worth the read.
