EDTA is an abbreviation for ethylene diamine-tetra-acetic acid, the primary therapeutic ingredient used in EDTA intravenous chelation therapy. Intravenous means in a vein or veins. During therapy, EDTA is infused into the blood stream through a vein. Technically, chelation is a chemical process where metals enter into claw like bonds with molecular ring-like configurations. Therapy is a process which is used to improve health or mitigate disease. EDTA is one of seemingly countless substances which may be involved in the chemical process of chelation.
