Despite the pans from some other official reviewers, this one's not bad.
Yes, Hosp's grasp of character is a little shaky.
And his grasp of prose style is even worse. He suffers from Lawyeritis: never use a good simple word when a bad complicated one will do worse. Thus he labors the obvious: Cassian is always said to have "quipped" when he makes a joke--hitting us over the head. Train is not said to have "said" but to have "posited." (Ouch.) He explains too much.
But those are small criticisms.
What he does do exceedingly well is suspense and plot.
Best of all: NO SERIAL KILLERS.
Ten extra points just for that.
