This story brings in a new location, and a new set of characters and I love the pacing of these. Zenina is a mystery woman, found in the snow after a meteor shower. She grows into a strong, beautiful woman, determined to live her life to the fullest. I like her sense of adventure, and her willingness to accept things at face value. I love her sense of loyalty and caring, when it looks like her parents are in danger, and how she acts to protect them. I found Sovereign to be very well defined as well. He is strong, handsome, and patient, knowing before Zenina does that they are destined to be mates, but in a very different way than most.
The romance in this is quiet, growing between the two characters slowly and gently, but there nonetheless. I am looking forward to more of their story, as they settle in to their roles in the future of the planet Balen with each other. If you don't mind a happy for now with a promise of much more to come, this one is for you. In fact, I recommend the whole Sector Guard saga as a great reading escape.
