In this tech tip we have a closer look at abletons Arpeggiator. We create a simple rhythm using the device, and then capture its output as Midi notes on 2nd Midi Track. Using this technique we can edit the old notes and create a brand new interesting and unique rhythm.
Tutorial 40 – Exporting Stems From Ableton Live
In this tech tip we take a finished song and get it ready for the mastering stage by grouping and exporting out the stems. Using this method leaves more room for maneuver when it comes to these final tweaks. This can also be used to bring across stems for use in another DAW, or to prepare your track to be remixed.
Tutorial 41 – Using Thor as an effect
In this Tech Tip we use Reason’s Thor instrument as an effects unit to add massive filters and delay to a Dr. Rex drum loop. We also use the Spider Audio Splitter to layer the original drum loop on top of the dubbed out effects.
Tutorial 42 – Multiple sidechaining with Spider Audio Splitter
We take a techno track and use the Spider to split our kick signal and side chain both our bass and percussion sounds at the same time. A simple solution to the sometimes fiddly sidechaining issue.
