While I thought the addition of Ilar as a character was a great idea, personally I have to say it's driving me crazy how Seregil reacts to him in this story. Can't Seregil just get over his past and this guy? I thought most of his childhood demons had been exorcised in Traitor's Moon. Ilar ruined his childhood and then tortured him as an adult. He's fairly despicable, yet it seems Seregil still has feelings for him?? He's still tempted to kiss this guy, and goes mooney when Ilar sweet talks him, even while he has Alec as his talimineous, soulmate and love of his life right there with them? What? I know stories about relationships need tension in order to grow and have life, but besides personally annoying me, is this part of the storyline realisic? I'm probably just too emotionally invested in Alec and Seregil to judge this plot line, but I didn't like.
I can't say this book is the best installment in this series, but it's still a book that I couldn't put down until it was over. It still had me chuckling, getting upset at the actions of it's characters, and making my heart go soft every now and then. How could I not give a book like this fire stars. I love this series and can't wait for more.
