I couldn't believe that the author would seriously try to float the idea that a book about wording in the Constitution would cause nationwide race riots. I kept wanting to email the author and say "Psst, Mr. Martini, did you also know that the NAACP has the words 'colored persons' in it? And nobody's rioting!!!" I almost gave up, thinking it was going to be another crappy free ebook.
But after you get through that first part and the main character comes in, it gets much better. I really enjoyed the rest of the book. The writing was good, the action kept moving, and I couldn't figure out whodunit. There were a couple of loose ends and inconsistencies. For example, they subpoena the publisher, it's vital that they talk to him, but he just never appears in court and they never mention him again.
I'm glad I stuck it out. I discovered a new (to me) author that I enjoy and look forward to reading other books in the series by him.
