In general with Susan Johnson, I think you probably love her or hate her, and that doesn't change much from book to book. I enjoy her novels (mostly: I prefer the ones written since about '98, I can't stand the earliest ones). I've found it's best when I can space them between several others; otherwise, they get repetitive - and there are only so many super-super-alpha heroes I can take without reading about sympathetic men. That said, I REALLY liked Gorgeous as Sin, and thought SJ might be becoming slightly more diverse in her writing. For that reason, I was really looking forward to Sexy as Hell, but I quickly found that it follows the patterns of her older historicals instead. Other than the extremely fast, no-resolution ending, it was an enjoyable novel, just not what I was hoping for. The moral: if you like SJ historicals of the 1990s-2000s, this one's for you.
