Ok, I will address this review for any one thinking of buying this book (or getting it from your library) for a 11 to 14 year old reader. Do it. If you want to knitpick about dialogue or plot holes go ahead. But if your interest is to engage a middle school reader into a story with action that will in the end want them waiting for the next book- which in reality wants them reading more, then this story is for you. The language level, character development, plot devices and dialogue is spot on for your average child who reads their required 30 minutes every night for school. This book may just get them reading longer than the kitchen timer and even more important asking if book two is available yet. Because, good reading for this age group (and this is a middle school book not a teen or YA book!) is about practice, practice, practice.
