Stephen Spawls, Kim Howell, Robert Drewes, "Pocket Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians of East Africa"
A & C Black Publishers Ltd | 2006 | ISBN: 0713674253 | 240 pages | PDF | 50,6 MB

This is a lightweight and portable guide, partly adapted from the popular and highly acclaimed A Field Guide to the Reptiles of East Africa by the same authors. Covering the most prominent 150 reptiles and 80 amphibians found in the region (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi), with concise text, photograph and map for each, this is a convenient and attractive pocket guide for a diverse and often conspicuous and attractive group of animals.
About the authors
Stephen Spawls was born in London but moved to Kenya when he was four. He lived in Kenya for 17 years, and subsequently worked in Ghana, Egypt, Botswana and Ethiopia, spending nearly 40 years in Africa. Herpetology is his major interest; he has published several books and papers on African reptiles. At present he lectures in science and mathematics at City College, Norwich.
Dr Robert C. Drewes is Curator of Herpetology at the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco and Research Professor of Biology at San Francisco State University. His three and a half decades of African field work and research have spanned the continent. His wife and four children have accompanied him to Africa on a number of occasions.
Kim M. Howell has lived and worked in East Africa for the past 38 years. A Professor in the Department of Zoology and Wildlife Conservation, University of Dar es Salaam since 1989, he is extremely fortunate to have had family, friends and colleagues who over the years have encouraged him in his fascination with reptiles and amphibians.
