As an avid 40K fan, I found it imperative that I pick up the first real piece of Eldar literature to become part of the Black Library. I have to say that this novel was excellent in the respect that readers finally get to have a look into Eldar culture and the workings of the Eldar mind. That, and you finally stop thinking that the Eldar are a pack of wimpy forest creatures. All this being said, I found the issue to be the ending or more specifically the character progression of the book's main protagonist, Korlandril. What happened?? Halfway through the story, Korlandril becomes not-Korlandril who then just disappears into oblivion altogether! I suppose this is just a means of personifying the fragility of Eldar life and the whole notion of "all energy is borrowed". That's understandable and in many ways, that makes "The Path of the Warrior" a great start to the Eldar sub-genre. I just hope I'm not the only reader who scratches their head at this.
