Divisional General Aviation Stanovsky William (March 27, 1896, Ostrava - July 14, 1972, Prague) was a Czech fighter pilot serving in World War II in the French Air Force. In the interwar period, he worked in a variety of leadership positions in the Czechoslovak Air Force. At the beginning of the Second World War, was arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned successively at Pankrac in the Dachau concentration camp. After liberation, he was promoted to brigadier general in 1946 he was appointed head of the aviation department of the Ministry of Transport. In 1951 he was dismissed from the army and sentenced to 17 years imprisonment. After his release in 1960 an amnesty stated that "... the communists were in jail brutal and resourceful than the Germans."
Since the end of the First World War was a Knight of the Legion of Honour and Commander of the Legion of Honour in 1946.

Divizní generál letectva Vilém Stanovský (27. březen 1896, Ostrava – 14. červenec 1972, Praha) byl český stíhací pilot sloužící za první světové války ve francouzském letectvu. V meziválečném období působil v různých velitelských funkcích v československém letectvu. Na počátku druhé světové války byl zatčen Gestapem a vězněn postupně na Pankráci, Špilberku a v koncentračním táboře Dachau. Po osvobození byl povýšen na brigádního generála a v roce 1946 byl jmenován přednostou leteckého odboru ministerstva dopravy. Po únoru 1948 ale vyžadoval oslovení „vážení soudruzi a pane generále“. V roce 1951 byl propuštěn z armády a odsouzen na 17 let odnětí svobody. Byl vězněn na Mírově a v Leopoldově. Po svém propuštění v roce 1960 na amnestii konstatoval, že „…komunisti byli ve vězení vynalézavější a bezcitnější než Němci“.
Od konce první světové války byl rytířem Řádu čestné legie a od roku 1946 komandérem Čestné legie.
