Organic optoelectronic devices such as organic solar cells (OSCs), lightemitting diodes (OLEDs), organic photo diodes (OPDs) and organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) have been employed successfully for more than one decade.However,the realization of an organic laser diode still remains unaccomplished. Since almost 10 years, there have been vigorous attempts to realize optical gain under intense electrical excitation. Organic semiconductorlaser diodes (OLDs) are expected to provide a number of unique features such as the tunability over the whole visible range and low cost, large are a fabrication. These properties would render OLDs suitable for a huge number of applications in bioanalytics, digital printing, fluorescence spectroscopy and homeland security.
