Before I read this book, I read a bunch of the (mostly bad) reviews. I could not believe that Childs could do 11 good (review wise) ones in a row, then do a really bad one, then another good one. So I read it in spite of the bad reviews, and I'm glad I did. I cannot understand all the bad reviews. I may get in trouble here, but I think that the plot was very good (although touching on some perhaps controversial subjects) and I think that anyone with an inquiring mind would have been very interested in the info on main battle tanks (the accuracy of which I can personally vouch for) and, for another example, the discussion as to how cell phones work, which was very interesting to my inquiring mind. My conclusion...in the future, and where books of fiction are concerned, I will not be influenced by reader reviews, but rather read a book and form my own opinions. And write a review based on them.
