I first read the book in 1980 during the Iranian hostage crisis. The book talks about all the players of the day, Nixon, Kissinger, Rockefeller, the shah of iran, etc. So the thing that hit home was that these guys were all a part of what caused the Iranian hostage situation. The deposed Shah was hiding out in Mexico, former president Nixon and Henry Kissinger along with David Rockefellers personal physician go to visit the Shah. This group then writes a letter to president Carter stating that for medical reasons the Shah needs to come to the U.S. for medical treatment not available in the U.S. and when that takes place the Iranians seize the embassy and hostages. The last president not a member of the CFR was JFK so do the math.
