I personally would have preferred a little less set-up and a little more development of the leads and one consistent plot. All the various councils and guilds and treaties and species admittedly made my head spin a little. However, all the ingredients for a good paranormal romance that should keep most readers flying through the pages are here in spades. I thought this was a very exciting start to a series and I'm looking forward to book two!
On another note, this book was labelled `Urban Fantasy' but I think it qualifies as more of a paranormal romance. It's a little darker and more disturbing than the average romance but the relationship is the main focus for the most part. I just wanted to point that out to anyone who might be wondering.
