It's always hard when a series you really enjoy comes to an end. I LOVED the first two books and could not wait to see how the author could bring this story to a satisfying conclusion. I was not disappointed. Katniss must learn to accept her place in the world and what she represents through her courage, determination and instincts for survival. For me, a sign of a good book is when I find myself emotionally involved... and I found myself frustrated and angry over everything that was happening -- everyone had ulterior motives and you could never really know who to trust. While I was sad about the way certain parts of the story ended, it is understandable given that Collins does not shy away from the violence and the haunting aftereffects of the experience of the Hunger Games. I only wish there was more of Peeta, who was missing for the first third of the book. While Gale was probably better suited for the old, pre-Hunger Games version of Katniss, Peeta is one of the few who could really understand how and why Katniss changed and they had a better chance of coping together than Haymitch ever had.
