Publisher: Oxford University Press, USA | 1998-04-09 | ISBN: 0195117271 | PDF | 208 pages | 11.74 MB

In this persuasive and compassionate argument for faith in the face of evil, Stackhouse goes beyond Rabbi Kushner, M. Scott Peck, and others to take a more historically informed approach, examining what philosophers and theologians have said on the subject and offering reassuring answers for thoughtful readers.

I mean, what father or mother would willingly put thier child into a minefield knowing that the child being totally ignorant of all factors would indeed blow themselves to pieces. There is no justification for the idea of a caring god, the idea is just that - an idea. Those who believe are just wishful thinkers who are to frightened to look reality in the face. If there is a god, then it is totally indifferent. Evil, however is a different matter, for it it one which stems from the minds of men, women & child. Evil is unnecessary, it is an outgrowth of suffering itself - a social blight which is a mirror of the social structure - non caring, superficial and ever fearful. Only when we get beyond fear can we be free of evil.Well, if people want to have free will, please, don't protest if bad things happen. God cares, but we should care more!!!God or not, one thing is obvious, the concept of religion is another form of controlling the human beings as willing sufferers hoping (falsely may be!) that in hereafter they will be compensated. Religion keeps masses (believers) patient, who are otherwise are in majority vis-a-vis a few who exploit them, would certainly upset the vicious system going on for ever. This would certainly create a great chaos, which is more suffering and perhaps the dose of religion is a dope that has worked well to rule a massive majority by a few.
