Product Description:
Review: "Great way to start with ITIL and foresee an Enterprise deployment. It's a good book with a very clear explanation of the ITIL v3 framework and the best part of it is that it gives a roadmap to implement and enforce the framework. very recommendable!"
The first edition of this book is regarded as a classic in its field. Now, in an expanded and updated version of The Art of Service's 2008 book, the authors once again present a step-by-step guide to ITIL v3.
The refresh of ITIL® into V3 brought impressive positive changes. The evolution of the core principles and practices provided by the framework provides the more holistic guidance needed for an industry that continues to mature and develop at a rapid pace.
Many organizations and individuals who had previously struggled with their adoption of the ITIL framework will continue to find challenges in 'implementing' ITIL® as part of their approach for governance of IT Service Management practices. In light of this, the primary goal of this book is to provide the support materials needed to enable the understanding and application of the ITIL® framework in a wide-range of contexts.
This comprehensive book is designed as an easy reference that will walk you through the 5 Lifecycle critical steps you need to take to create a successful portfolio of IT Services. In addition you will learn how to manage and refine your service portfolio as your company's business evolves.
Considering the increasing number of IT Professionals who want to be actively involved in ITIL, this book, should do at least as well as the original, which was a bestseller.
Summary: Great Practical Reference for ITIL v3!!
Rating: 5
I purchased this book because I was looking for a reference book to help me actually implement ITIL v3 concepts in a real world situation. This book absolutely was the right book to get for that purpose. It lays out exactly the activities and key performance indicators that you should be looking to implement for any given service area in a concise and easy to understand manner. Too often these types of books try to explain the core concepts with excessive use of analogies and boring case histories. This book skips all that and gets right to the meat of the ideas. The writers understand that this is a book for people in the trenches who need a guide and framework for putting ITIL into practice, and that is exactly the book they have delivered. I highly recommend it!
