Each chapter is pretty much self-supporting, so you don't have to read the entire book cover to cover. Having said that, the book is a fairly quick read. The copious illustrations are clear and the use of real world equipment is helpful to those that may be exposed to it. This isn't the book to give detail about ever single aspect of a topic, but it certainly gives you enough to make use of the more specialised texts.
