Hello friends, it's The Fuhror here to save you from conversation hell. Here's how to talk to women without being a quivering little marshmallow of a man. Thank me by hooking me up with your sisters. But only if they're pretty.
Down to business, now.
1) Start your conversation with no expectations.
This is the single most important idea that a guy must grasp. When talking to a girl, she is only a prospect. Moreover, she is not your only prospect. Your intentions are not "get this girl to go home with me". Your intentions are "see if this girl is worth my time". If you went into other things with the kind of expectations most guys have about talking to girls, you'd think they were crazy. If you were buying a car, you wouldn't walk into the dealership thinking "I've got to leave here with a car". You'd walk in being very critical, thinking "I'm not getting a car unless I find one that suits me". On that note:
2) Don't be afraid to walk away from a girl who isn't suiting you.
If it's not going well, go ahead and leave. UNDERSTAND! Things can be going badly for any number of reasons. Do not....DO NOT....DO NOT immediately think "damn, if only I were (insert excuse here)". More times than not, it's bullshit. A conversation goes two ways, and some girls tend to sit there waiting for you to bring up topic after topic after topic, making the guy feel responsible for an uncomfortable silence. If they can't do a minimal amount of reciprocation, there's a label for that: BORING. You wouldn't stand around with a car, trying to make it into the one you like. Don't stick around with girls who aren't worth your time.
3) Know what you want for your relationship types.
By doing this, you'll be able to pinpoint which girls to continue speaking to, and which ones to throw away. You'd have a list of attributes that you want to have met. Some of the attributes on the list might be more important than others, but you'd know what you want. Here's my relationshp types:
-Girlfriend
-Fuck buddy
-Wingwoman / potential connection to other hot women
-Throwaway
Now, let's say I have 10 attributes that I would want for any woman to be a girlfriend. If they've only got 7 of those, the woman becomes a potential fuck buddy. If they've only got 5 of those, the woman becomes a potential wingwoman. Any less than 5, I'm out the door. Most of these attributes are only discernable after talking to the woman for a bit. That's why walking up to her with no expectations helps --- I don't know what I want out of the girl until we have a conversation.
4) A girl is impressed by those not trying to impress.
I know, I know. Let me explain.
Nonchalantness is key. This is why having no expectations is vitally important. You cannot walk into a conversation with the idea in your head to try to impress the girl so that she likes you. It creates pressure, which comes off as "trying too hard" to the girl if you can't keep up the "I'm impressing her" vibe in your own mind. Write this down:
You don't have to IMPRESS a girl to ATTRACT her.
This is why girls say "just be yourself". They'll be attracted to you because of some personality trait you have. Maybe you're funny. Maybe you're intellectual. Maybe you're cultured. Maybe you're laid-back. Maybe you're witty. Most importantly, you're comfortable with talking to them....which in turn, makes them comfortable with talking to you.
5) K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple, stupid.)
Unless you're in a specialized venue conductive to a specialized conversation (auto convention, concert, etc.), don't reach for off the wall topics. Just keep her talking about herself. Ask her follow up questions on something she's revealed while talking about something else. Example:
Me: "Why'd you decide to come to this club / bar / concert / KKK meeting?"
