I love Jodi Picoult books, and this one was awesome. Fascinating story line, and very suspensful. However, the ending was horribly sad, yet surprising. The mother, Charlotte was accused of only caring about money throughout the entire book, and almost lost her husband, and other daughter to pursue the lawsuit. Yet, in the end, it was clear that it was not the money that she really cared about after all. Anyone with a special needs child could relate to this book. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the plot spreads out a little in the middle of the book, with the bulemia and cutting. However, this further illustrates the mother's obsession with the lawsuit, and negligence of her other daughter. Perhaps this is exagerrated, yet true that siblings of special needs children often feel neglected and how they deal with it.
