This book elaborates on many of the basic principles in global optimization, evolutionary algorithms, and genetic programming and describes how they can efficiently be realized in software. The DGPF and Sigoa projects are based on this book.

Dear FreeBookSpot-people.
I am currently writing an open, freely available computer science e-book. This e-book is devoted to global optimization algorithms, which are methods to find optimal solutions for given problems. It especially focuses on evolutionary computation by discussing evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithms, genetic programming, learning classifier systems, evolution strategy, differential evolution, particle swarm optimization, and ant colony optimization. It also elaborates on meta-heuristics like simulated annealing, hill climbing, tabu search, and random optimization.
With this book, I want to make it easier for students and fellow researchers to get started with these interesting topics. I believe that it is a valuable resource for both, students and (beginning) fellow researches. Therefore, I also include a rich set of references to related work, some practical examples, and an implementation suggestion.
It is very important to me that this book is free and remains free, so I have licensed it under the Gnu Free Documentation License FDL.
I would be very happy if you would add it to the FreeBookSpot catalogue, so students can find it more easily. You can find the book at . Notice that the book is currently worked on - it will be improved, revised, extended, and corrected consecutively during the next years.
