The best part of the book for me was the noir atmosphere. The author did a pretty good job at painting a word picture of time, place and atmosphere. I enjoyed, but didn't love, the Batman-like crime fighting vigilante part of the book. But near the end, the plot veered away into more science fiction/fantasy and I found that disorienting. I thought the steam punk superhero part of the book worked much better than the other-worldly (or at least other dimension) ending.
This isn't a great book but if you like steam punk and/or troubled superheroes, with a healthy dose of noir, you may enjoy this book.
