SALEM was formed in 1980 in Hull, in the north east of England by singer and guitarist Paul Tognola and drummer Paul Conyers of NWoBHM and Metal for Muthas stars ETHEL THE FROG (one album on EMI in 1980). From their formation to their split in 1983, SALEM followed the path of their predecessors with their well balanced mixture of more epic, yet catchy classic hardrock and powerful driving prototype heavy metal.
