Emmylou Harris (born April 2, 1947, Birmingham, Alabama) is an American country singer-songwriter and musician. In addition to her work as a solo artist and bandleader, both as an interpreter of other composers' works and as a singer-songwriter, she is a sought-after backing vocalist and duet partner, working with numerous other artists.As a solo artist, she has released 21 studio albums and three live albums. At least 10 compilations are devoted solely to her work. For nearly her entire career she has released albums on Warner Bros. Records or the company's subsidiary labels, Reprise Records, Elektra Records, Asylum Records and, most recently, Nonesuch Records. Harris has shared primary credit on albums with other artists: two with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt (Trio and Trio 2), one with Ronstadt and two with Mark Knopfler (All the Roadrunning and a live companion album/DVD, Real Live Roadrunning). Additionally, Harris has been a guest performer on over 200 songs recorded by more than 100 different artists and groups. These include collaborations with Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Guy Clark, Willie Nelson, Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams, and many, many others. She has also participated on around 20 tribute albums (both solo and collaboratively) and contributed performances to at least a dozen soundtracks, such as "A Love That Will Never Grow Old" for the movie Brokeback Mountain.Anthology The Warner/Reprise Years, brings together some of Emmylou Harris's best loved songs. The recording also features duets with Roy Orbison and Don Williams and a trio with Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt.
