The EM Problem Book is a supplementary book in a carefully planned sequence of books in the Comprehensive School Mathematics Program (CSMP) for well motivated secondary school students with high verbal ability.
This book is a collection of 200 elementary mathematical problems requiring no prerequisites beyond the most basic mathematical skills for their solution. However the problems are nonroutine and nontrivial. They will give you the opportunity to do mathematical research on a level which is tailored to your maturity and mathematical horizon.
Hundreds or thousands of hours of hard work are usually invested in each new result or theorem found by a research mathematician. You should not expect quick and easy victories. As a rough guide, you should start work each week on a new nonroutine problem. This means about 200 problems for your whole high school career.
