I'm new to reading Sabrina Jeffries, and this was my first School For Heiresses story and I REALLY enjoyed it. Funny and sweet with a family mystery thrown in for good measure.
This story is a much better and more grown-up version of "kidnapped heiress" type romances from the 80s (Jeffries even makes a joking reference to the title of 'The Pirate Count"). Lucy and Diego's chemistry is palpable from their first meeting at the beginning of the story. Their relationship develops in a really satisfying way, whether they're learning about one another as friends or arguing as lovers. And it's definitely gratifying reading how Lucy grows into her own person, how she can combine all aspects of her personality from being shy and curious to being confident and sure of herself.
The storyline of Lucy's lineage was done tactfully. What could have been written over the top (except for the funny ending, of course) was done eloquently with a twist at the end. Maybe *I* was the only one surprised, but I really liked the way Jeffries wrapped up this story.
