A pretty weird novel. You need to keep focus so you wont get thrown or turned off by the "experimental" structure. Some people are apparently ticked off by this, no wonder Finnegan's wake is seldom considered Joyces and probably overall literature's greatest "acheivement".
The diary structure is not linear at all, not always focusing on the main character. Apparently not always written by the same person. Nevertheless this schizophrenic emphasis on not being clear and in control and slowly going crazy, gives it its charm.
Its unique aspect is that the feel and ambiance is exactly the same as Silent Hill 2.
