I remember contacting Confine about a compilation that I was going to release. It was first attempt at starting a label, at the time the label was called "The Godlike Communications Group," and to make matters worse, I actually called them Confide!
About a year or so later, their split CD with Avarice arrived at my door. To say the least I was absolutely floored. The band displayed some of the most powerful and aggressive hardcore that I had ever heard, so I contacted them yet again, in hopes to release their next record. This time however, we reached an agreement and what followed is a record that I am proud to have taken part in.
Confine had matured immensely between their releases, adapting an even more pummeling and original sound. Falling somewhere between Harvest and Buried Alive, the band has proved to be one of Canada's best. Confine's music became even tighter and more dynamic, backed by Spark's blistering vocals and intelligent lyrics. Confine's "The Beginning Of The End" has earned its place. With an impressive live show to top it all off, basically putting Canada back on the map!
Shortly after the release of the CD Confine disbanded. They did however recorded another ep which remains unreleased to this day. "The Beginning Of The End" title seemed all to fitting looking back. Confine still managed to capture the youthfulness and intensity of hardcore in that era and their ep certainly serves as a reminder of what could have been.
