THE COMPANY OF ROGUES
Nicholas Delaney, twin brother of the Earl of Stainsbridge. Eclectic thinker, traveler, idiosyncratic collector. His story is told in An Arranged Marriage (1991)
Lucien de Vaux, Marquess of Arden, heir to the dukedom of Belcraven. A damn-your-eyes Regency buck who conceals a keen brain and scholarly interests, until he meets his match in An Unwilling Bride (1992)
Leander Knollis, Earl of Charrington, son of a diplomat and raised internationally in the highest circles before arriving at Harrow. A linguist with impeccable social skills, he has spent his time in the diplomatic service with a short spell in the Guards. He's looking for a bride, but it's dashed awkward the way impressionable misses swoon at his feet when he can't seem to feel anything in particular for them. He wants a woman who won't embarrass him with devotion. The "Weeping Widow" of a famous romantic poet seems just the ticket. Christmas Angel (1992)
Francis Haile, Lord Middlethorpe, a gentle, sensitive man with a core of steel. He lost his father at a young age, so has had responsibility most of his life, especially from knowing he is the dependence of his mother and sisters. He is on the point of offering for the pleasant, thoroughly suitable Lady Anne Peckword when he encounters scandalous Serena Rivington. His life will never be the same. Forbidden (1994)
Miles Cavanagh, heir to the Earl of Kilgoran, a fiery opposer of Irish oppression. He inherits the wardship of an heiress. He doesn't think it will be a daunting task until he meets Felicity—and the rotter Felicity is determined to marry. Dangerous Joy (1995)
Con Somerford, Viscount Amleigh, heir to the Earl of Wyvern. He was a second son who did not expect to inherit, but, like the good officer he is, he will do his duty. He wishes that duty did not involve an encounter with Susan Kerslake, however. They have a painful past. The Dragon's Bride (2001)
(A connected book to this one, The Devil's Heiress (2001) links into the Rogues, because the heroine, Clarissa Greystone, is a secondary character in An Unwilling Bride. The hero, Major George Hawkinville, is one of the "three guys called George". The other two are George Vandeimen (The Demon’s Mistress, novella 2001) and George Connaught Somerford. These three stories will be reissued in June 2004 in an omnibus trade paperback edition called Three Heroes.)
Sir Stephen Ball, lawyer and Member of Parliament. A quiet man, but clever. His book is Skylark (2004).
Major Hal Beaumont, joined the army and lost an arm in Canada. He is in love with Blanche Hardcastle, an actress who was Lucien's mistress before his marriage. He wants to marry her, but Blanche thinks it more suitable to only be his mistress. Their story is interwoven through the other books and will complete in Dare's book..
Simon St. Bride, the Rogue who's never appeared in a book, but who has been mentioned as being in Canada. I found him, wreaked havoc on his life and brought him safely home in The Rogue's Return (2006).
COMPANY OF ROGUES RELATED STORIES
THE DEMON’S MISTRESS, 2001
Lord Vandeimen returns home from Waterloo to ruined estates, his family all dead. His attempts to recreate something of his heritage leave him deep in debt, and he is ready to commit suicide when a woman bursts into his room with an extraordinary proposal. Mrs. Maria Celestin, widow of a wealthy foreign merchant, will pay him a small fortune to pretend to be her betrothed husband for six weeks.
Van cannot refuse, but he is wary of this outrageous good fortune. He is also intent on getting into the widow's bed. He doesn't expect to be dragged back into life, and into love, or into a battle to win the woman who bought him.
THE DEVIL’S HEIRESS, 2001
Major "Hawk" Hawkinvale has reluctantly returned home after ten years of war. He longs for his ancient Sussex home, but his despised father is still alive there. Upon his return, however, he finds matters are even worse. To pursue a family title, Squire Hawkinville has mortgaged Hawkinville Manor to a wealthy industrialist who will soon own it, tear it down, and built a modern villa in its place.
There is one way out. The title his father has won at such cost is Viscount Deveril, and foul "Lord Devil" had died possessed of a fortune. It will go to pay the squire's debts if Hawk can prove that the inheritor, a trollop who had been prepared to marry Deveril, had played a part in his violent death. His investigations reveal a very complex picture, however, threatening to hurt some of the people he most cares for in the world. And soon one of them is Clarissa Greystone, the Devil's Heiress.
HAZARD, 2002
You may have met Lady Anne Peckworth in FORBIDDEN, being exquisitely polite after being jilted. You may have heard about her in THE DRAGON'S BRIDE, being pitied from afar because another suitor found a woman he truly loved. Anne may have been the perfect lady once, but twice is her limit! Now she's angry, and to torment her further she has a mysterious, infuriating interloper called Race de Vere to turn her life upside down. And to tempt her to play hazard—with dice, and with her heart.
ST. RAVEN, 2003
Tristan Tregallows, Duke of St. Raven is playing the highwayman. His plan is to hold up one coach in order to prove that a man is prison is not the infamous Le Corbeau. However, his target coach is carrying vile Lord Crofton and an obviously innocent lady. Tris has to rescue her, no matter how reluctant she is. And then, of course, he has to help her on her quest, especially as it will take her to an orgy. He is, he assures her, an expert guide to orgies.
