The author grabs you by the throat and keeps you, the reader, constantly interested and intrigued. Weather in Alaska is a major factor in every day living and the weather certainly played a significant part in this book. When this reader would look up and see the sun actually shining in her yard it was a total shock. I expected to see gray and dark skies, gloomy and heavy fog, snow blowing across the yard, and hear a howling and nasty wind.
This is my first book written by David Vann. It most certainly will not be my last. I HIGHLY recommend this book and will pass it along happily to friends. It is a book I will think about and remember for a long time. The ending will knock your socks off.
