Kyle Byrne, a mid-twenties slacker, is not your normal protagonist. He lost his father as a child and now his mother is deceased. Kyle has flunked out of school, drinks too much and can't keep a job. The plot involves Kyle needing to find a missing file of his deceased lawyer father. In the process he gets beaten up, learns more about his parents, more about himself and why he has mad the life choices that he has.
I found the book engaging and the ending to be touching. This is a book that is difficult to describe without giving away plot points so I won't go further. But give it a try. If you don't expect typical Lashner you may be pleasantly surprised.
