I'd never read this author before but was impressed by this book and its well-crafted prose. The story was quite engrossing, and though the premise initially struck me as a bit implausible, the author made it work. I was, in fact, quite taken by the gutsy woman protagonist-sniper as she climbed trees, dodged bullets, and outwitted everyone with the assistance of her equally gutsy teenage girl sidekick. It was only towards the end of the novel that plausibility issues re-surfaced for me with the whole espionage subplot, and I just wasn't buying it. An entertaining read, however, though not an especially profound one.
