By choosing selling as a career, you have entered a profession that not
only promises good rewards but, most importantly, gives you job satisfaction
– something sadly a lot of people never get to experience during
the whole of their working lives.
Ask any successful salesperson and they’ll tell you that selling is – and
should be above everything else – fun.You’re lucky to be in such a pleasurable
occupation that lets your personal enjoyment and enthusiasm
shine through and inspire others. And there is nothing like the buzz you
get each time you win over a customer and close a deal. It’s a reward in
itself.
As well as being challenging and exhilarating, sales career tests you
physically and mentally, develops your social skills and helps you realise
your true potential as an individual.There are very few professions where
each day offers fresh opportunities, brings new faces and places; where
you find yourself taken through the whole range of human emotions and
gain a real zest for living.
Our society owes its prosperity to good salesmanship. The whole economic
process depends on the salesperson setting the wheels in motion.
Just as great oaks begin as little acorns, so all great things start with an
idea. Basically, selling is motivating your fellow men and women through
ideas – stimulating and encouraging them to think for themselves and
helping them make the right choices that will create prosperity for their
organisations and ultimately enrich their lives.
Selling is the driving force behind Business. However sound the financial
investment, efficient the manufacturing production process and
excellent the finished product, nothing can happen until the salesperson
at the sharp end puts the wheels in motion. Everything ultimately
depends on your efforts and imaginative creativity in formulating the
ideas to generate sales.
Always remember it is a great privilege to be a salesperson.With that
privilege comes responsibility. You belong to that sector of commercial
activity in which you – and you alone – can determine the level of success
to which you aspire. Dedication to your profession, coupled with the
skills you will learn here, will enable you to achieve that goal.
