When Batmans greatest nemesis, Ra's al Ghul, recruits Bizarro and an Amazon warrior to aid him in his plan to create global chaos, the Dark Knight Detective suddenly finds himself working with the Man of Steel and the Amazon Princess. Looking to thwart the madmans plot to simultaneously destroy all satellite communications as well as all of the worlds oil reserves, Earths greatest heroes reluctantly band together. But if Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are to have any hope of stopping Ra's' nuclear missile assault, they will first need to overcome their own biases and reconcile their differing philosophies. -- series solicitation, dccomics.com ” “Trinity adds Wonder Woman to the mix and, more important, boasts writer-artist Wagner, best known for his independent-comics creations Grendel and mage, as author. At an early stage in their careers, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman join forces to thwart a scheme by Batman's foe Ra's al Ghul to disrupt world communications. The villain, meanwhile, has enlisted Superman's twisted duplicate, Bizarro, and a renegade Amazon from Wonder Woman's Paradise Island home. Wagner effectively uses thought captions to accentuate the characters' different approaches to fighting crime--Superman's calm superiority, Batman's resoluteness, Wonder Woman's bemusement at the violence of "Man's World." Wagner's sparse, thoughtful art and clear, elegant storytelling constitute a model style for traditional superhero comics. While he provides the superpowered slugfests genre fans demand, moments that convey the power of Superman, the grimness of Batman, and the majesty of Wonder Woman are more memorable. -- Gordon Flagg, Booklist review of the hardcover, amazon.com Back before superpowered heroes and villains started appearing all over the world, there was just Superman and Batman, polar heroes with an undeniable respect for each other. When Ra's Al Ghul, Bizzaro, and the teenage Artemis threaten the Amazon's home on Paradise Island, Wonder Woman sets out into the world to seek answers, meeting Superman and Batman for the first time. Trinity is an excellent tale that perfectly captures the individual natures of its three dynamic characters during their first meeting. From Batman's awe of paradise, to Wonder Woman's view of Superman as a kind of Greek god, the writing is thoughtful and the art is superb. It does perfect justice to each of the characters, giving us a fresh view on old heroes in familiar conditions. I can't recommend this book enough. -- Matthew Mcnamara (NJ, USA), customer review for the Trinity hardcover, amazon.com ”
