The group, at this stage of its artistic life, reached the top of its musical maturity; an anthological concert with remarkable technical contributions, in front of the young students of Milan University was unconceivable just some years before. “Area” offered a copious program wich gave rise to five publications. All the pieces were taken from previous works, but the themes and the style were widely renewed with progressive jazz-rock influences. The inclusion of the saxophonist Steve Lacy and the percussionist Paul Lytton helped to create an inventive space. A superbe “encore” with “Boom Boom” (John Lee Hooker) influences and a fourteen minute unpublished “Improvisation” were included.
This double CD contains the complete recording of the concert wich is bound to become a special document of the Area collection.
