STEALING CANDY by Allison Hobbs by far is her best novel to date. It tells the story of something that is too real in this country but hardly spoken about...child sex-trafficking. We meet three girls who are each troubled in their different ways and we see how they were coerced into a life that is so much worse than they could have ever imagined. Ms. Hobbs does an excellent job in portraying the emotions of each character. At the end of the book there is a publisher's note written by Zane. An underlying message that Zane pointed out within this book was that "too many people suffer from the Stockholm Syndrome...by staying with men that demean them, physically and verbally, abuse them, and keep them trapped in relationships and marriages out of pure fear. Unless they make the decision to get out-not often an easy one-that pain and humiliation will follow them every day of their lives." I highly recommend this novel!
